Q: What should I know before visiting Eleuthera?

A: Verizon data is $10 per day (unsure on other carriers). To avoid this fee, put your phone on airplane mode and use WiFi when available.

A: Avoid drinking the water on the island. Restaurants will have bottled water and all vacation homes have refillable filtered water jugs.

A: Many local businesses only accept cash. There's a 1:1 exchange rate and all businesses accept USD, but you may receive Bahamian dollars in change. There are two ATMs located in the town of Governor's Harbour if you need to withdraw more cash. There are also many places that do accept credit cards.

A: We recommend downloading the map of Eleuthera on your map app as you may not always have data to access maps while driving.

A: The locals are extremely friendly and welcoming. They'll be happy to answer any questions you may have or point you in the right direction! :)
